Rosacea
Rosacea is a chronic but treatable vascular inflammatory condition that mainly affects the central part of the face and is often characterized by outbreaks and remissions.
It is characterized by some subtypes, of which we highlight:
the erythematotelagiectasic rosacea, characterized by redness and small vessels (telangiectasia) that are commonly associated with this pathology. If left untreated they tend to worsen over time.
the papulopustular rosacea which as the name implies, is characterized by inflammatory papules and pustules on the face, which are often misdiagnosed as acne, which leads to an aggravation of the situation. Hence, a correct diagnosis, treatment and follow-up is very important.
Surveys show that almost 90% of patients with rosacea have reported a reduction in their self-confidence and self-esteem, while 41% admitted that it made them avoid public contact or cancel social commitments at some point.
In order to improve the approach to this disease, we have at AVENUE CLINIC a Rosacea consultation with dermatologists Dr. Bernardo Pimentel and Dr. Leandro Silva.
